About Me

I live in Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory of Australia.  Commonly known as the "Red Centre", we are right in the middle of Australia.

I have been lactose intolerant for many years, but only recently diagnosed as gluten intolerant as well.  I find I prefer to be mostly vegetarian, although I have been known to indulge in the occasional steak, as time goes by that becomes more and more of a rarity.  I enjoy the way I feel when I keep to a vegetarian diet, after years of being unwell and not really knowing why, the feeling of lightness and wellness is something I have come to enjoy.

I love food, and spend a lot of time in the kitchen, playing around and modifying recipes to my liking.  I also love to make up my own recipes, based on what I love to eat.

Making jewellery is another one of my passions, and our house is overrun with all the associated paraphernalia that accompanies such a pastime.

I also have an interest in natural therapies and natural skin care, and health, wellbeing and weight loss.

2010 was a difficult year as we lost our little dog Chloe, and I got up to my heaviest weight ever, around 117 kilos.  I am very tall, just under 6 feet, so I carry it quite well but still I was always tired and lethargic and ate very poorly and didn't do any exercise or look after myself very well.

I lost a bit of weight, and by the beginning of this year I got down to 110 kilos.  I got to the point where I decided enough was enough, and have slowly been making changes to the way I live my life because after doing numerous "diets" over the years, I don't want to be on and off for the rest of my life.  It is about living healthily in the here and now, all the time.

The purpose of this blog is to consolidate all that I do, and share it with you, dear reader, in the hopes that you too will find a place of peace here in all the madness.
